The exhibition “Author Jewels”
The exhibition “Author Jewels” takes place at the end of November at the Bronzo Art Space in San Cristobal de La Laguna, in Tenerife. It is the fifth edition where we have the pleasure of participating. It’s the second time I participate. The owners of this key space for Art in the Canary Islands dedicate an exhibition to contemporary jewellery every year. This exhibition can usually be visited (and also bought) during a month. It is usually until January 8. Each year they invite artists from the Canary Islands from various fields, plastic arts, sculptures, graphic designers, engravers, jewellers… It has a way of teaching contemporary jewellery through each of the hands of these very captivating sectors.
In the Canary Islands Contemporary Jewelry does not have much exhibition activity, it is still very unknown, but little by little and thanks to Bronzo we can explain this concept.
In this edition, I participated with my new work “HISTORIAS DE MAR”. Three pieces, two necklaces and a ring that has a story behind. Each piece comes from a lived moment. Experiment with feelings, with sensations and with materials. Have you ever considered an object as a jewel? It is a reality !. Objects also have a place in Contemporary Jewelry, where the jewel can be an object and vice versa.
My “Stories of the Sea” are three pieces dedicated to the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea. Vivid situations that I have been able to take to the jewel format, thanks to the conceptual development of this work.
A necklace that appears using materials such as an exoskeleton of a spider crab. A ring that is formed with the stones found on the beaches of Fuerteventura And a necklace that transforms into a 3D collage. Everything is possible in this format if it has a background.
